Important – vCNS and #NSX End of Availability and Support Notifications
For a while now we have known that vCloud Networking and Security’s days where numbered…with the release of NSX as a replacement+ product it had been communicated to current vCNS customers that an upgrade to NSX-v would be on the cards to ensure continued support and functionality. The date has now been set for the EOA of vCNS and in somewhat of a surprise to me VMware also last week announced the EOA for NSX-v 6.1.x will reach end of availability later in the year.
Horizon View 7 on #VSAN – Policies Revisited
It has been some time since I last looked at Horizon View on Virtual SAN. The last time was when we first released VSAN, back in the 5.5 days. This was with Horizon View 5.3.1, which was the first release that inter-operated with Virtual SAN.
ESXi host vCPU/pCPU reporting via #PowerCLI to LogInsight
Some time ago I had a discussion with one of my customers how to achieve vCPU/pCPU ratio 1:1 on their Tier 1 cluster. Unfortunately, there is not any out-of-the box vSphere policy to achieve it. You can try to use vSphere HA Cluster admission control with advanced settings to achieve such requirement but it is based on CPU reservations in MHz so it would be tricky settings anyway with some additional risks for example after physical server hardware replacement.
