After completing the last episode HomeLab Stage LIX: Travel Preparation, it is now time to focus again on my HomeLab. It network upgrade time:
My network equipment is from Nvidia Networking (Mellanox), Dell and Ubiquiti. I really like the Ubiquiti stuff, there new Pro Line looks really nice. Let´s start with the existing environment, that is going to stay:
Nvidia Networking Backbone (SN2100)
Last year I invested into one Mellanox SN2100 switch. 16 ports, that can be configured for 10GbE, 25GbE, 40GbE, 50GbE and 100GbE. Each port can be splittend into 4 additional ports using their cables. 100GbE to 4 x 25GbE or 40GbE to 4 x 10GbE. That scenario is working very well for my existing setup. This beauty is going to stay, but the uplinks to the rest needs to be updated….

All other existing network switches are replaced by their newest generation…..
Ubiquiti Switch Pro Aggregation
The new Ubiquiti Aggregator 28 x 10 GbE + 4 x 25GbE switch is replacing my US16-XG switch. This new one is connected via 4 x 25GbE LACP channel to my SN2100. The new Aggregator Pro Line Switch has some nice features:

Uplink with Breakout cable to SN2100 with 4 x SFP28

Ubiquiti Switch Pro 48 PoE
The new Pro 48-PoE with 48 x 1GbE + 4 x 10 GbE (SFP+) is replacing the existing US48-PoE from the previous generation.

Uplink with 4x SFP+ cabling to aggregator.
Ubiquiti Switch Pro 24 PoE
The new Pro 24-PoE for datacenter 2 + 3 with 24 x 1GbE + 2 x 10GbE (SFP+) replacing US24 and US16-PoE. Uplinks are also dual SFP+ to the Aggregator.

Ubiquiti Switch Lite 16 PoE
Switch Lite 16 PoE for Upstairs + Office + Living Room with 16 x 1GbE replacing US8-PoE.

My new HomeLab network setup starts with 100GbE inside the backbone, 4 x 25GbE to the Aggregator, 4 x 10GbE for the 48 Port Switch, 2 x 10GbE for Datacenter 2 & 3 and Gigabit for the Wifi Access Points…..
I think this setup can survive the next years 😎
