I’ve recently been involved in some design and sizing for very large VMDKs on vSAN. There are a couple of things to keep in mind when doing this, not just the overhead when deciding to go with RAID1, RAID5 or RAID6, but also what this means for component counts. In the following post, I have done a few tests with some rather large RAID-5 and RAID-6 VMDKs, just to show you how we deal with it in vSAN. I am excited to announce that we are going to pilot doing a full length VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) Workshop online in roughly two weeks on April 7. Previously all of our VCDX Workshops have occurred at large VMUG UserCons along with both VMworlds. How to Email a Custom Alert (Part 1) [blogs.vmware.com/management]
In vRealize Operations, you can access a series of pre-defined alerts that give you immediate insight into problems when they arise. Many companies also use custom alerts to meet their unique business processes. In this blog post, I will highlight how you can create your own alert definitions and create notifications for the custom alert, making it easy to generate an email for those specific notifications.
