PowerCLI Core on Docker with macOS

Back in November, shortly after Microsoft’s open-sourcing of PowerShell, and subsequent cross-platform PowerShell Core release, VMware released their cross-platform version of PowerCLI: PowerCLI Core. This was made available on GitHub for general consumption, and can be installed on top of PowerShell Core on a macOS/OSX or Linux machine.

While there are a number of different issues addressed in the patch, there is one in particular that I wanted to bring to your attention. They had a challenge in that their clusters were running with different EVC modes, and they wanted to move VMs from the newer cluster to the older cluster. “Impossible!” the strawman says, “it can’t be done!”

Virtual Tool chest update: Flings and More

Most of you know the VMware labs and the flings they produce. Some flings are so good that they become part of a product. Some of them are good but remain a fling. Some of them are only useful in a handful of cases. It’s a challenge to keep up with all the tools and flings that are released, updated, removed, fixed and moved into a product.
