So if you have installed your NSX content pack in log insight and noticed that no information is presented in the new dashboard:
#VMware vRealize Operations Manager (vROps) 6.X Architecture (via Virtual Maestro)
VMware vRealize Operations Manager (vROps) 6 helps IT admins to monitor, troubleshoot, and manage the health and capacity of virtual environment. vRealize Operations is a suite that includes vCenter Infrastructure Navigator (VIN), vRealize Configuration Manager (vCM), vRealize Log Insight, and vRealize Hyperic.

NSX – Transport Zone (via vcrooky.com)
Next up is creating a Transport Zone! Transport Zones are a way to define which clusters/hosts are be able to see and participate in the virtual network that are being configured. Its like a container that houses NSX Logical Switches along with their details which is then assigned to a collection of ESXi hosts that should be able to communicate with each other across the physical network infrastructure.
NSX – Logical Switch (via vcrooky.com)
Next up on the NSX build out is creating logical switches! A logical switch is a distributed port group on a distributed switch. So why logical? Because it gets a unique VNI (VXLAN Network Identifier) to overlays the L2 network.

#ESXi Version Information now available as JSON (incl. Script example)
Out of many reasons, I need VMware ESXi version information in a format that can be reused in scripts. I maintain a manual list since a couple of years but this list can’t be used for automation purposes. VMware does not provide this information in the required format, so I created my own database which is now also available as JSON file.

Both these sessions will showcase full stack SDDC architectures; NSX, vRealize Operations, vROPs Management Packs, and software-defined storage (virtual volumes). For the Oracle session NetApp will be a co-presenter and for the SAP HANA session Hitachi Data Systems will be the co-presenter. Get ready because VMWorld voting opens May 3rd – 24th
How HA handles a #VSAN Stretched Cluster Site Partition (via yellow-bricks.com)
Over the past couple of weeks I have had some interesting questions from folks about different VSAN Stretched failure scenarios, in particular what happens during a VSAN Stretched Cluster site partition. These questions were in particular about site partitions and how HA and VSAN know which VMs to fail-over and which VMs to power-off.
Problem Installing vCenter Server 6: The user associated with the DSN has insufficient privileges
Today while working in my lab I was facing one issue when I was trying to install vCenter Server on top of Server 2012. I was experimenting to deploy vCenter Server with external SQL 2014 database. This was my first experience with working on external database for vCenter Server and I knew I am gonna face some issues.
#VMware NSX for Horizon
VMware NSX for Horizon brings speed and simplicity to VDI networking. Within seconds, IT administrators can create policies that dynamically follow virtual desktops, without the need for time-consuming network provisioning. Extending security policy from the data center to the device, this joint solution provides a highly extensible platform that integrates with industry-leading security solutions.
Replacing default certificates in #vSphere 6 – Part 1 (via vpirate.in)
We all know that SSL certificates enable secure communication between a browser and a web server. During the initial setup, all the VMware components are installed with self-signed certificates and it is a best practice to replace the default certificates with custom CA signed certificates. This process of replacing default certificates in vSphere 6 is very simple compared to the tedious process that was present in the previous versions of vSphere (5.1 and 5.5).
Prediction: By end of 2016, #VMware Horizon will be neck-and-neck with Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp (via TechTarget)
I predict that by the end of next year, VMware Horizon 6 will be neck-and-neck with Citrix XenDesktop / XenApp in the enterprise. I base this prediction on talking to many customers (several of them very large), who are seriously looking at Horizon 6 as their next platform to replace their current XenApp 6.
