Following up on the overwhelming response from my blog post from last years observations at VMworld I have been asked to present this in a break out session this year. I spent many years as a vSphe…Read More
This is part one of a two part series of posts pertaining to using some common server storage I/O benchmark tools and workload scripts. View part II here which includes the workload scrips and where to view sample results. There are various tools and workloads for server I/O benchmark testing, validation and exercising different storage devices (or systems and appliances) such as Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) flash Solid State Devices (SSDs) or Hard Disk Drives (HDD) among others.
If you’ve ever tried searching for a script or a module before, you know it’s not the easiest thing to accomplish. This sentiment has been coming up more and more as of late. There’s a ton of amazing PowerCLI scripts and modules, PowerActions scripts, DSC resources, and so forth contributed by the community and openly […] The post Updating the VMware PowerCLI Community Repository! appeared first on VMware PowerCLI Blog.
This utility connects to App Volumes 2.x, 3.x and Horizon Air Hybrid-Mode (Enzo) environments, pulling data from the native REST APIs into a single interface for ease of management. Configuration items such as deleting AppStacks and managing Writable Volumes, which are not available in the App Volumes 3.x interface, are easily managed with this utility. In case you are already running ESXi 6.0, be aware of VMware KB2145106. It describes an issue where ESXi 6.0 gets disconnected and appears as Not Responding in vCenter. Currently, there is no resolution, apart from disabling the SMART deamon (smartd).

I know, there is 3 times “free” in the title. When I first got this e-mail from Extrasphere telling me to watch this video I was a little bit skeptical. But I said OK, I’ll watch the video. I’ll see if they’ll ask me to give them my CC details … -:). The question of wanting to disable the default landing page for the vCenter Server is one that comes up infrequently. In fact, I probably see this maybe once or twice a year. However, when it does come up, it usually revolves around two topics: some sort of security risk and limiting users from obtaining software […]

My attempts to marry DSC and vSphere have been going on for nearly a year* now. I showed some of my attempts and intermediate results at VMworld 2015, in two sessions at the PowerShell + DevOps Global Summit and recently during a session at the 24th VMUGBE+.
